Plans curriculum, classroom schedule, and prepares lessons/plans and other instructional materials to meet individual need of students (IEPs, if applicable), considering state and school requirements, physical, emotional, and education levels of development by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. a) Develops and implements individualized academic programs by performing formal and informal assessments of academic achievement, social-emotional development, and vocational skills according to governmental and organizational guidelines. Prepares materials, individualized lesson plans, and activities according to assessment goals. b) Develops and implements behavioral objectives by reviewing referral and assessment data. c) Establishes, monitors, and documents goals and objectives for individual student needs with assistance of treatment team. d) Implements expectations and consequences as appropriate for each student as outlined in behavior management plan. e) Administers standard classroom procedures by maintaining current school records and maintains confidentiality of all student records per program guidelines. f) Ensures line-of-sight supervision of assigned students, maintains structured environment to ensure student involvement as appropriate. g) Participates as a team member by cooperating with staff and demonstrates compromise and expression of opinions as appropriate. h) Attends staff meetings as required and performs duties as a positive role model for students and colleagues. Utilizes chain of command in all aspects of program and follows organization's policies and procedures. i) Maintains good community relations by ensuring all communication of information (written and verbal) is clear, concise, legible, accurate, and courteous. Communicates well and cooperates with families, relevant external personnel, and staff members. j) Documents all external and internal contacts and relays student information according to company and governmental guidelines. k) Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of classroom and work areas. l) Demonstrates knowledge of state licensing regulations, contractual requirements, CARF standards, HIPAA policy, ordinances, laws and other regulations required of his/her position and acts consistently and in obedience to same. m) Call management - 90% compliance in each of the following: Good Program Selling, Obtaining the Referral Source, Assertively Pursuing the Assessment, and Addressing the Acuity. Test calls will be measured via Market Power and real calls will be measured via Inquiry Call sheets, if applicable. n) Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation and correctly prioritizing safety concerns. o) Uses appropriate counseling skills by de-escalating aggression, using active listening skills, using appropriate tone and volume of voice, providing a high frequency and variety of positive reinforcements, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and promoting a positive peer culture. p) Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Education. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job could be directed to supervise staff assistants in assigned classrooms. |
