Director of Adult Genetics

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Medical Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking a clinical faculty member outside the tenure track to lead a new clinical effort to expand adult genetic services. The position will be based in the Department of Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. The candidate will take prime responsibility for coordinating existing adult genetic services at the Children’s Hospital (approximately one third of all patient visits), and developing adult clinical services at Magee Women’s and Presbyterian Hospitals on the nearby adult campus of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. There will be considerable interactions with the Inborn Errors of Metabolism Clinic and its adult population. Responsibilities will include evaluating and managing adult patients with genetic disorders, establishing educational and collaborative relationships with the Department of Internal Medicine, and meeting the needs for genetic services in Internal Medicine divisions. The candidate will participate in the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in Medical Genetics Residency program. The Division of Medical Genetics is a top funded program with 15 faculty, 7 of whom hold full time research positions, and received in excess of $7M in research funding in 2017 from the NIH, private industry and charitable foundations. Division faculty hold 12 NIH grants individually or collaboratively. The Center for Rare Disease Therapy at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh offers access to cutting edge clinical research and patients with a broad spectrum of rare diseases.
