JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Promotes the standardization of Blood Bank testing and processes throughout HonorHealth facilities.
• Responsible for the development of training, competency program. Provides and is accountable for staff coaching and quality measures in blood bank across the network.
• Works to develop blood bank staff and works as a member of the laboratory leadership team to meet hospital and organizational goals.
• Coordinates LIS activities, computer validations and interfaces along with new tests and instrumentation.
• Assesses department resources and needs, recommend appropriate staffing levels and works on developing operational and capital budgets.
• Helps resolve Laboratory Services problems by interacting with nursing, physicians, laboratory and other hospital staff.
• Updates and teaches students, nurses, clinical lab assistants and technologists regarding current standards and procedures.
• Trains, maintains competency and provides in-services for Blood Bank testing throughout the organization and oversees/monitors proficiency testing.
• Acts as technical liaison for Blood Bank at hospital and network meetings.
• Works with the department team to develop standard policies and procedures for the network.
• Assists in troubleshooting & documentation of testing issues.
• Assists in budgeting process.
• Participates in quality assurance programs to ensure that quality standards are met. Lead, facilitate and participate in process improvement initiatives as necessary.

• Experience including Oncology, Neonatology and Bone Marrow Transplant a plus.

Certification Required:  

• Specialist in Blood Banking SBB (ASCP)
