Description
Assist in the assessment of the educational needs and evaluation of nursing practice of the staff. Design and implement educational programs including orientation, in-service, and continuing education to prepare staff to deliver the highest quality of nursing care available.
Requirements
Certification/Licensure · Current RN in Texas · Must obtain BCLSHC & ACLS within 90 days of hire; PALS & TNCC may also be required · ANCC Nursing Specialty certification within 12 months of hire- prefer CEN Education · Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required · MSN preferred; must obtain within 3 years of hire date Experience · A minimum of five (5) years clinical experience to include preceptor or charge nurse experience; age specific patient care required (see below) · 2 years' experience in the ER · Previous teaching/education experience preferred Specialized Training · Knowledge of Joint Commission standards Equipment · Basic office equipment · Basic patient care equipment & supplies; ER specific equipment & supplies Computer Skills · Computer literacy is desired; Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) within 12 months of hire · Experience with electronic health record preferred Other Skills/Competencies · Ability to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of self or others. Ability to comply with all Good Shepherd policies and procedures that are job-related and consistent with business necessity. Ability to effectively communicate with patients and provide competent care as appropriate to the ages of patients served by this position.
