The risk management specialist works with members of the Risk Management Department by providing support to enhance the effectiveness of the risk management program. Provides data analytic support for risk management processes to assist the risk management team and the organization in its pursuit of proactive risk management strategies to improve patient safety.
Prepares risk reports
Responsible for compiling, analyzing, verifying and interpreting data information
Creates, maintains and manages comprehensive risk management database(s)
Produces timely reports of progress toward risk measures/goals through dashboards and more detailed reports
Acts as a resource to department staff in the design, measurement, assessment and implementation of risk management activities across the enterprise
Consults with other departments concerning the importance of data analytics and aids in providing feedback information to them
Assists with data collection for submission to internal and external benchmarking sources
Assists with evaluating data for accuracy, appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency
Develops and continues to improve the process and report design for providing risk reports across the enterprise
Facilitates internal/external request for risk data, as approved by risk director
Facilitates special projects, as needed
Assists the Risk Department in identifying trends
* Two (2) years or more experience in the use of database systems and related analytics
* Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to work in a team environment and independently *Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously *Exceptional ability in word processing, spreadsheets (Microsoft Word, Access, Excel) and ability to master new software programs * Knowledge of risk management information systems and analytics preferred *Familiarity with hospitals or the health care industry preferred
