The Division of Health Affairs of the University of South Dakota is seeking a faculty leader with a background in health disparities to serve as Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion and to direct the Master of Public Health Program. Successful candidates must have a doctorate in public health, medicine, health sciences, healthcare education or a related field. The ideal candidate will have experience in public health field and a record of health disparities research. Candidates should have experience in working with American Indian populations or underserved populations; the ability to travel; and the ability to establish/maintain relationships with underserved populations across South Dakota. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
Associate Dean, Diversity and Inclusion As Associate Dean, the candidate will head the Office of Diversity and Inclusion in the USD Sanford School of Medicine (SSOM), lead efforts to address diversity focus areas (American Indians, rural and gender) and ensure SSOM compliance with LCME diversity and inclusion accreditation standards. The successful candidate will: demonstrate leadership in developing and analyzing pipeline efforts; develop effective efforts to enhance the numbers of underrepresented groups in medical school; maintain effective collaborative efforts with the INMED (Indians into Medicine) program; and promote medical student understanding of health disparities in American Indians and other underserved populations. The Associate Dean supervises a part–time Assistant Dean and a full-time Coordinator of Pipeline Programs.
Director, Master of Public Health As Director the MPH program, the candidate will oversee the state's only MPH program, and lead the program through initial accreditation by the Council on Education for Public Health. It is expected that the candidate will mentor students, conduct research, teach, and direct faculty. The MPH program is a partnership between the USD School of Health Sciences (SHS) and the South Dakota State University (SDSU) College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions. The Director of the MPH program will supervise two MPH faculty members, one staff member and adjunct instructors.
