The Department of Health and Human Values at Davidson College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Public Health. Davidson students have demonstrated widespread and avid interest in public health issues, and faculty in multiple departments are currently engaged in scholarly activities within this field. Candidates are expected to be highly committed to excellence in both undergraduate teaching and scholarly research. We encourage applications from candidates in all fields of Public Health. Candidates must possess a Dr.PH or Ph.D. by August 1, 2017.
The successful candidate will regularly teach 5 courses over 2 semesters, with 4 courses in the first year. Courses will include an introduction to the field of Public Health, a course in Global Health, a course in Health Care Disparities, and other courses in the applicant’s areas of expertise. The successful candidate will also mentor student research projects within the department as well as senior thesis projects in Public Health through Davidson’s Center for Interdisciplinary Studies.
We are seeking a committed teacher-scholar who will maintain an active research agenda in Public Health; participate in departmental and college-wide initiatives in Health and Human Values; advise students in the department; and contribute to all levels of the curriculum.
