HJF is seeking a Research Associate to support the Division of Military Epidemiology and Population Sciences of the John P. Murtha Cancer Center (MCC) Rockville Office located in Rockville, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to MCC.
The John P. Murtha Cancer Center at Walter Reed Bethesda is a modern, patient-centric, tri-service military healthcare facility. Its comprehensive core of military and civilian oncologists and other cancer-trained clinicians and researchers provide multidisciplinary cancer-care delivery and patient-family support services. Our Cancer Center, the only DoD Cancer Center of Excellence within the Military Health System, offers its patients access to cutting-edge cancer diagnostic and treatment technologies.
The incumbent will be responsible for the processing and manipulation of research data from various resources; perform data analysis tasks including data quality evaluation and assurance, data query and recoding, and statistical analysis; help write scientific reports and papers as needed; and provide support in statistical analysis and computer programming.
- Processes and manipulate research data in data quality evaluation and assurance, data query and recoding, and statistical analysis, using computer programs.
- Provides expertise in SAS programming and other data/statistical programming to support data management and analysis for research projects and collaborations.
- Performs complex data consolidation and statistical/epidemiological analysis.
- Conducts literature review and result evaluation for research projects.
- Writes progress reports and scientific papers for presentation and/or publication.
- Provides statistical support as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Advanced knowledge and experience in data processing and manipulation; advanced knowledge and experience in using SAS statistical software to perform various data processing and analysis tasks; knowledge in biostatistics and epidemiologic study design; excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in using large medical records data and using other statistical and database management software packages such as SPSS, ACCESS will be a plus.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Master’s degree in biostatistics, health service, or epidemiology with extensive experience using SAS programming language
Minimum Experience: At least three years of working experience in data management and data analysis.
