Two full time career positions located in UC Davis Health System, School of Medicine, Emergency Medicine, in Sacramento. Working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This classification is not represented by a union.

The Research Data Analyst III is responsible for data collection, management, quality control, record linkage, and analysis of data for a series of studies related to epidemiology of prescription opioid use, abuse, and overdose, including related topics such as mental health, other types of substance use, and pain management. Provides research study support to faculty and non-faculty investigators in designing, conducting, and summarizing the findings of literature reviews for grant proposals and manuscripts, in grant proposal and manuscript writing, in preparing materials for conferences and lectures, and in submitting IRB protocols. Participates in overall study design, analysis plan design, execution of analyses, and interpretation of the results of data analyses. Performs other duties related to project coordination and administration as assigned, including preparing and coordinating data requests with state and national agencies.
--Experience managing and analyzing databases using statistical software such as SAS, R, or Stata for analysis and graphics
--Experience with Microsoft Access or equivalent relational database management programs / programming languages
--Understanding of principles of epidemiological and/or clinical study design
--Experience with scientific manuscript writing and data analysis in an academic, research, or similar setting
--Experience with performing and summarizing scientific literature reviews
--Understanding principles of program design and evaluation
--Organizational skills and ability to function independently, keep track of multiple projects, work to meet specific deadlines, and document procedures
--Masters in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, or a related field
--Experience analyzing large administrative datasets, including coding and evaluating deterministic and probabilistic record linkage
--Evidence of significant contributions to published research, such as authorship
--Experience with analysis of clinical and health outcomes data
--Skills to assist with the development and implementation of innovative statistical approaches to solve complex analytical requirements
--Knowledge of mathematical statistics
--Pass a Department of Justice background check that includes fingerprinting from a CDOJ-approved LiveScan provider within the first 30 days of employment.
--Willing to travel between UCDHS and California Dept of Justice (4949 Broadway, Sacramento) and work at both locations
--Willing to work extra hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet project or proposal deadlines
--Willing to work on projects in fields that are perceived as controversial
--THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT.
