New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Applied Psychology to begin in 2017. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Department of Applied Psychology. This is a one-year non-tenure track appointment that is renewable for an additional two years, depending upon department need and satisfactory performance. It also carries the possibility of converting to a longer-term contract.
The Department of Applied Psychology is going through an exciting period of growth in academic offerings and in increased research productivity. The department grants undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees, and has a new counseling center. In addition to these residential degree programs, we have launched an online MA program in Fall 2016.
Position Description: We are looking for individuals with a Ph.D./Ed.D. in counselor education, clinical, school, or counseling psychology. The Visiting Assistant Professor will work with program faculty to facilitate training for graduate students in the Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness, School Counseling, and Applied Psychology Undergraduate programs. The successful candidate will teach courses predominantly in our new online distance education program, as well as on campus.
Responsibilities: Teach and advise undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students; participate in faculty meetings, serve on committees, and provide other service to the Department and University.
Qualifications: Doctorate related to the profession of counseling and a demonstrated strong track record of teaching.
