A postdoctoral position is available with the Division of Pain Research in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan, with a start date no later than August 15, 2017. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. This is a 2-year position (1-year possible, but a 2-year commitment is strongly preferred) and will involve working closely and collaboratively with Drs. Chad Brummett, Jenna McAfee, and Afton Hassett, as well as the broader network of pain researchers and neuroscientists in the department. The primary area of effort will be at the Back and Pain Center, which is an outpatient pain management clinic, committed to advancing patient care through research. Our primary research focus is on clinical intervention trials for chronic pain, and other studies with experimental and cross-sectional correlational designs. Our research team is committed to addressing the opioid epidemic through the development of opioid cessation interventions for chronic pain patients and preventing new post-surgical opioid use. Additionally, developing and testing pragmatic and scalable behavioral interventions that enhance functioning, well-being and resilience is a priority. Development and implementation of study designs, project oversight, analyzing data, and co-authoring manuscripts with Drs. Brummett, McAfee, and Hassett. To facilitate professional development, 20% effort will be allocated to the candidate’s independent research and manuscript preparation. This position is internally funded.
