Core experience should include:
- Demonstrated expertise at the intersection of public health and housing, through direct experience with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Healthy Homes Initiative, the Center for Disease Control's Healthy Homes and Lead Poisoning Prevention program, or state healthy homes programs in Connecticut or elsewhere.
- Work experience within the health care sector such as a hospital, clinic, or research center
- Prior success breaking down the silos between housing, health, and energy efficiency to improve health outcomes.
- Education to support this position including an undergraduate degree and preferably a graduate degree in public health, social work, medicine, nursing, environmental science, or a related field.
Core competencies should include:
- Strategic planning and staff management to lead the Healthy Homes Program in its new direction and ensure that the Healthy Homes Program team is high performing and invested in its success.
- Proven success in identifying partners, building collaborations, and achieving measurable outcomes, especially within community development efforts.
- Facility with developing well-defined program outputs and outcomes, setting goals, and measuring progress. Experience within a research hospital setting or with rigorous evaluation is ideal.
- Past success in attracting investments from federal grants, private foundations, or corporations, including all elements of fundraising from relationship building to drafting compelling proposals to grants management and oversight.
- Strong written and oral communications skills that demonstrate an ability to produce everything from internal memos to policy briefs to persuasive public presentations for community members, medical providers, housing and energy organizations, or legislators.
- Cultural competency and strong interpersonal skills to navigate within a complex research hospital and among community leaders, public officials at the federal, state, and local level, and families with children from many different demographic and socio-economic backgrounds.
