The School of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley invites applicants to our Lecturer Pool of temporary instructors to teach courses should the need arise.
We seek a pool of applicants for our regular classroom instruction, Berkeley Summer Sessions, and for online instruction in the On-Campus/Online Master of Public Health (OOMPH) Program. Screening of qualified applicants begins immediately and we will continue application review as needed through January 2018. The number of open positions varies from semester to semester for the classroom courses and from instruction period to instruction period for the 6-8 week long courses offered by the OOMPH Program, and in March for Berkeley Summer Sessions. The positions are part-time and may range from 17% to 33% work effort per month except for Berkeley Summer Sessions, which is session- based work.

- Health Policy and Management
- Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology
In addition to teaching responsibilities, duties include developing and/or preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus, online course site and videos for OOMPH), holding office or discussion hours, assessing student work and assigning grades, advising students, responding to email, maintaining a course website.
- By the application date, the minimum qualification is a Master's degree or equivalent degree in
public health or related field
- PhD or equivalent degree in public health or related field
- Professional work experience in your specialization
- Higher education and/or online teaching experience desired
Salary is dependent on prior college-level teaching experience and will be set at initial appointment. The full-time annual academic salary scale range is $52,099 - $158,270 and will be prorated based on the work effort and duration of appointment. Berkeley Summer Sessions lecturer appointments are paid by-agreement per session.

When an instructional need occurs, applications for regular classroom instruction for the fall semester are usually reviewed during April/May and for the spring semester, October/November; Berkeley Summer Sessions application review will occur in March; and for online instruction, applications are reviewed every other month, or earlier upon need.
