Carle Physician Group is seeking a proven physician leader to help provide direction and oversight for the System’s interfacing strategy with current and future regional partners. Focusing specifically on clinical and operational standardization, business development, population health and health plan initiatives, this role will be responsible for physician interactions between Carle Physician Group, Carle Foundation Hospital and the partnering organizations/facilities throughout the region to ensure system goals and objectives are successfully aligned.
Carle is a not-for-profit, locally owned and operated healthcare system that includes Carle Foundation Hospital, a 400-bed Level 1 Trauma Center, Carle Physician Group boasting 450+ physicians and over 650 total providers and Health Alliance, the largest health plan in downstate Illinois with over 400,000 members in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Washington.
As a newly created position, the Regional Medical Director is a highly attractive role offering a tremendous amount of visibility within the organization. This position will interact regularly with executive leadership and will engage with nearly all areas of the delivery system. The Regional Medical Director will help lead the organization’s relationship development efforts across the Carle service area in effort to maintain physician centric dynamics with regional partners and will coordinate/promote regional physician strategy in areas of quality, physician recruitment, innovation (telemedicine, etc.), behavioral health initiatives, research participation and regional expansion of teaching/training through the College of Medicine and Graduate Medical Education. The Regional Medical Director will seek to better understand unique environments throughout regional and rural partnership locations and will serve as an advocate to share specific needs with Carle leadership. This position will be charged with removing barriers to enhance local quality of care, to increase positive patient outcomes and to decrease costs.
The Regional Medical Director will report directly to the Carle Physician Group Executive Vice President & System Chief Medical Officer. In addition, this position will have a strong working relationship with the System Chief Operating Officer and will work closely with the System Chief Strategy Officer. The Regional Medical Director will function in a heavily matrixed environment engaging with peer Medical Directors and will interface through dyad partnerships with leaders in the Strategy and Business Development division.
