The Department of Neurosurgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking applications for the position of Chair to oversee all department functions and operations. Candidates must be recognized nationally and internationally for his/her achievements and expertise in neuro oncology surgery, and a successful track record of publications and peer-reviewed research funding. The applicants must be board-certified and eligible for licensure in the state of Texas.
The Department of Neurosurgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has a distinguished history of over a quarter century of accomplishments in all aspects of neurosurgical oncology, in research, and in education. The Chair will be responsible for all aspects of department functions, including personal development of clinical trials, and research grants, participation in and coordination of inter-disciplinary clinical and research programs, mentoring faculty and trainees, and supervision of Department staff. The position also involves fiscal oversight that includes budgeting, grants management, and financial compliance. The position provides an outstanding opportunity for an applicant who has established expertise in an academic environment that includes significant experience in neurosurgical patient care, research, administration and leadership. Applicants must have an exemplary record of high quality peer-reviewed publications and leadership experience in the development of programs, preferably within a major NCI-designated Cancer Center. In addition, applicants should have demonstrated leadership in dealing with different stake-holders, both within and outside their institution, planning and assessing programs, and managing financial and human resources.
