Able to perform complete echocardiographic study integrating all imaging modalities necessary to obtain all pertinent patient data. Document completely and accurately patient data and echo exam information utilizing current information management system. Must be well organized and able to function independently. Assist in the orientation and training of all levels of trainees and visitors assigned to the Echocardiography Laboratory. Expectations include assignments in the role of outreach sonographer, stress echo sonographer, and/or research sonographer. Expectations extend to include on-call practices, weekends, evenings and holiday coverage as needed. When covering on-call service, staff must be at the hospital within 30 minutes from receipt of page. Must possess strong human relation and communication skills, and sound judgment. Must demonstrate flexibility in learning all equipment. Must have an understanding of sterile procedures and isolation precaution techniques, and must exercise proper precautions to avoid potential exposure to radiation, infectious hazards, sharp instruments and defibrillator equipment.

Qualifications
RDCS or RCS registered as a cardiac sonographer. Associates degree required. New graduates must have successfully completed an accredited CAAHEP cardiac ultrasound program and must successfully complete RDCS or RCS certification within the first 6 months of employment to retain employment as a sonographer within the lab. Basic Life Support (BLS) or ACLS training required.

Additional qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred.Strong communication skills. Sonographer must possess valid driver's license and proof of safe driving record validated by regular motor vehicle record (MVR) checks according to established Mayo policy.

Note: Internal applicants are required to attach their 3 most recent performance appraisals.

License or certification
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) in Adult Echo required. Minimum of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification accepted.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $31.49 per hour.
