Transportation Worker
Palmetto Pee Dee Behavioral Health is a 59-bed behavioral health facility located in Florence, SC offering adolescent behavioral health programs and treatment services to males and females ages 7-21. The Transportation Worker provides scheduled transportation services for youth and staff to and from the program and will provide direct supervision of clients and maintain staff/client ratios while on grounds, during times when no transportation is necessary. The Transportation worker acts as a role model for residents, demonstrating effective problem solving and decision-making skills, transporting residents to and from medical appointments, and assuring scheduled programming is carried out. The Transportation worker will maintain, inspect, clean, and perform vehicle operator-level maintenance to assigned vehicles in accordance with Palmetto Pee Dee Policy and program guidelines. As assigned, supervise youth at the facility or in the community; document behavior issues. Review and complete appropriate appointment paperwork as required. Maintain client supervision until youth are either affirmatively transferred to another staff member; comply with Palmetto Pee Dee policies and practices related to client behaviors on vehicle. Assist in development and maintenance of efficient pick-up and delivery route schedules. Operate van and other vehicles to ensure youth attendance at program or for program activities; Transport youth at other times as needed. Maintain, inspect, clean, and perform vehicle operator-level maintenance to assigned vehicles in accordance with Palmetto Pee Dee Policy and program guidelines. Complete the Palmetto Pee Dee vehicle safety checklist before and after each use. Ensure vehicle is road-worthy, and report unsafe vehicle issues to program staff immediately. Operate assigned vehicles in a safe manner; obey traffic laws and comply with all Palmetto Pee Dee policies and program operating guidelines. Maintain phone contact with the program as needed; Do not operate vehicle while using phone. Participate in training and development activities as required. Report any acts, incidents or conditions that reflect the possibility of inappropriate youth-to-youth or staff-to-youth relationships. Provide direct supervision of clients and maintain staff/client ratio's while on grounds during times when no transportation is necessary. Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents per Palmetto Pee Dee policy and state guidelines. Ability to work in fast paced environment Flexible and not easily frustrated. Perform other duties as assigned.
