| Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Research Director to oversee the Heart and Vascular & Neuroscience Research departments at Swedish Cherry Hill Campus in Seattle, WA. The Research Director is responsible for providingleadership and direction for the management of research programs, and providingadministrative oversight relating to the conduct of research projects. In this position, you will: - Develop, implement and revise and business plans to promote increased research activity in the area of specialization
- Develop and communicate research goals, objectives and mission to appropriate parties, insuring that activities are congruent with overall mission, values, vision and goals of the clinical area
- Be accountable for financial management (profit/loss), compliance, and conduct of research in the assigned area of specialization
- Be accountable for competency and well-being of research staff
- Promote an environment of cooperation and collaboration between internal investigators and the surrounding research community
- Work in conjunction with internal and external boards to promote ethical research and community involvement
Research Director Qualifications: Required qualifications for this position include: - Strong commercial/clinical research background
- Graduate degree in science and/or business
- Minimum of five years’ experience in research administration at academic or independent research institution
- Advanced working knowledge of regulatory requirements (federal, state and local) for administration of research
- Financial management experience
- Excellent communication skills,both verbal and written
- Long-term strategic vision and ability to present ideas effectively in a variety of settings
Preferred qualifications for this position include: - Post Graduate degree preferred(or equivalent experience)
- Hospital based research background, especially from a large system or highly matrixed organization
- Heart and Vascular,Neuroscience research background
- Medical background (e.g. Nursing)
- Familiarity with federal research
- Laboratory based research background
