PeaceHealth is seeking a RN Relief Charge Nurse - O/P Dialysis (Per Diem) for a per diem, Variable shift position.

JOB SUMMARY
Continuously exemplifies the mission, values and customer service philosophy of PeaceHealth in job performance and in relationships to others. Assures professional nursing care is provided for all patients in clinical nursing unit according to established standards and practices. In the absence of Nursing Director, Nurse Manager or Designated Charge Nurse, provides specific functions of those jobs in directing activities of the nursing unit for the shift assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Promotes PeaceHealth's mission and philosophy statements through actions, words and behavior.
2. Promotes a customer focused work environment.
3. Is aware of own responsibility professionally, ethically and legally (i.e. knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, ethical behavior, patients and physicians and demonstrates understanding of professional ramifications for both self and patient care).
4. Provides professional nursing care for patients of all ages on the nursing unit as needed according to the staff nurse job description and appropriate to the ages of patients served.
5. Coordinates and directs activities of the unit with other nursing units and other hospital departments.
6. Maintains good interdepartmental relations and public relations.
7. Inspects unit for compliance and unit/department policies, procedures, regulations, standards and takes corrective action when violations occur. Maintains patient rights and compliance with hospital communications code. Assures proper maintenance of patient's medical records and confidential treatment of patient information.
8. Applies emergency protocol, prepares staffing sheets and responds to code calls as needed by shift.
9. Maintains awareness of appropriateness of patient care and implements procedures accordingly.
10. Promotes an effective 24-hour health care team which assures the continuity of professional nursing care.
11. Provides for patient privacy, exercises discretion and assures confidentiality at all times.
12. Professionalism: Participates in the advancement of professional nursing practice through continuing education, self-development, and contributes to the professional growth of the nursing staff.
13. Interpersonal Relationships and Communication: Demonstrates ability to consistently maintain positive working relationships with others and facilitates written and verbal communication through appropriate channels. Promotes customer-focused environment.
14. Is knowledgeable and can demonstrate age specific competency skills for the age groups served to include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.
15. Planning Patient Care: Determines correlation of patient needs to staffing and other resources as established from mutually agreed upon patient care goals.
16. Implementing Nursing Care: Assures the implementation and delivery of safe efficient nursing care to all patients including recognition and documentation of and providing for the educational needs of patients and significant others.
17. Evaluating Patient Care: Assures evaluation and documentation of the patient's responses to the treatment plan based on clinical assessment of interventions.
18. Promotes a safety-conscious work force and maintains good housekeeping practices.
19. Communicates appropriately with person served regardless of their age.
20. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
BSN or current enrollment in BSN program preferred
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
One year experience as a registered nurse with satisfactory performance is required
Demonstrated effective leadership experience is required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington is required.
Current Basic Life Support is required.
As required for the RN Inpatient role in the same unit (unless otherwise specified)
Certification specific to clinical area preferred
ACLS required within six months of date of hire.
OTHER SKILLS:
Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and customer-focused work environment.
Demonstrated interest in self-development.
Demonstrated interest in staff-development.
Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures.
Able to create a climate of high moral among staff.
LONGVIEW WSNA PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires active physical exertion up to 33% of the time.
Ability to lift objects weighing 80 lbs. or less.
Work requires frequent exposure to minor cold, heat, poor ventilation or sharp instruments. Reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids once per month or more.
Duties require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (more than 65% of work time).
Provides patient care in an uncontrolled home environment; operates motor vehicle on urban and rural roadways up to 25% of each day (to include inclement weather).
