Department/Unit Summary The Department of Pharmaceutical Services provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care services to Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH), Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt (Children's Hospital), Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital (VPH) and The Vanderbilt Medical Group (VMG). This patient-centered service is provided through the Patient Care Center organization and clinic structure. The role of the Pharmacy is to promote safe and effective medication therapy for all patients and to provide oversight and leadership of the medication use system. For more information visit our website: http://www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/root/vumc.php?site=pharmacy Pharmacy Resident- PGY2- Transplant -Term Professional-Monthly Transplant Specialty Residency Expected Start Date: July 1, 2019 Vanderbilt University Medical Center in conjunction with the Vanderbilt Transplant Center, offers a Post-Graduate Year Two (PGY2) Solid Organ Transplant Pharmacy Residency Program, accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. This program is a 12 month, full time residency in solid organ transplantation. The Vanderbilt Transplant Center specializes in kidney, liver, pancreas, heart and lung transplantation. The purpose of the PGY2 pharmacy residency is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available. The mission of our Solid Organ Transplant pharmacy residency is to develop a clinical transplant pharmacist competent in all areas of solid organ transplantation and a leader among their peers. The resident is expected to participate in the continuum of care of transplant recipients. The purpose of the residency is to provide education and training in all areas of solid organ transplantation. Required Rotations: Liver Transplantation (3 months) Kidney/Pancreas Transplantation (3 Months) Heart/Lung Transplantation (3 months) Transplant Infectious Disease (1 month) Ambulatory (longitudinal) Elective Rotations: (Max of one per year) Critical Care Cardiology *Other opportunities are available Fringe Benefits: Benefits are competitive, and include paid time off (PTO), travel support for professional meeting attendance, health insurance, relocation allowance and other benefits.
