The Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children At Risk Evaluation (CARE) Program started over 25 years ago and is a hospital-based, hospital-wide program of physicians, advanced practice nurse, nurses and social work professionals evaluating suspected child victims of maltreatment across settings (inpatient, outpatient and emergency department) in the Delaware Valley. Child victims of physical and sexual abuse are provided medical services in outpatient and inpatient areas, partnering with multiple medical specialists (trauma, orthopedics, neurosurgery, radiology, critical care, behavioral health, and emergency medicine) required for the care of the most severely injured children.
The CARE Program additionally oversees the emergency department-based Forensic Nurse Examiner Program to provide services for pediatric victims of suspected acute sexual and physical assault, and has recently co-located with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Delaware to provide comprehensive services for children at risk and their families.
The team is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Child Abuse Pediatrician for a full-time position offering excellent opportunities for inpatient and outpatient clinical child abuse practice, teaching of medical students, residents and multidisciplinary team community partners, prevention work, research, and community involvement. Clinical service will be the primary focus of this position; however, candidates should also possess interest and experience in research and/or medical education and policy, as the position will afford opportunities for educational curriculum development, state task-force participation or research collaborations around child abuse/neglect. The successful candidate will receive an academic appointment at the Sidney Kimmel College of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
