Baylor Scott and White Medical Centerand Texas A&M University College of Medicine seeks an accomplished BoardCertified Intensivist (Surgery, Pulmonary or Anesthesiology) to fill theposition of Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) Medical Director withinthe Department of Surgery at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Temple. This is a full-time physician leadership rolewith significant clinical responsibilities in the practice of Cardiovascularand Cardiothoracic Intensive Care.
CT ICU Medical Directorprovides medical supervision of the intensivists and professional staff inassociation with the appropriate Department Chairs and assist in oversight ofthe delivery of care throughout Cardiothoracic and Cardiovascular IntensiveCare Unit. This position will work closely with the Associate ExecutiveDirector of Perioperative Services and/or the Nursing Director of Adult ICU's,and serve as chief liaison with the other physicians and Departments thatprovide direct patient care. This position will also serve as a CTICUintensivist that provides direct patient care as appropriate and requested.
CT ICU Medical director candidatesshould possess current certification by their subspecialty board, and have atleast 5-10 yr experience in providing quality of careat a high-volume cardiovascular surgery program. rendered to patients byprofessional staff. The Medical Director provides clinical direction and guidancefor clinical activities of physicians, including medical students, interns, andresidents that may serve in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. Anacademic appointment through the Texas A&M University College of Medicinewill be granted on appointment.
The Cardiothoracic Surgery Divisionpresently consists of 3 cardiac surgeons, 2 general thoracic surgeons, 9mid-level physician assistants/nurse practitioners, and 4 transplant/VADcoordinators. The Division performs over 600 cardiac cases and 300 thoraciccases per year including coronary revascularization, valve repair andreplacements. The Division has several advanced cardiothoracic surgicalprograms, including Heart/Lung Transplantation, mechanical assist device(HeartMate II), TAVR, a Center for Aortic Disease, adult ECMO, and minimallyinvasive and robotic thoracic surgery. BaylorScott & White Medical Center – Temple has ACGME accredited residencyprograms including General Surgery and Anesthesiology. The Department ofAnesthesiology has an advanced fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesiology.
