Alert The U.S. Department of Homeland Security recently issued an emergency advisory about an elevated threat of cybersecurity attacks targeting hospitals and health care systems in the U.S. These threats can come by phone calls, text messages or emails. ChristianaCare advises that everyone be alert to potential phone, email and text-messaging scams. If you receive a suspicious phone call, text message or email from ChristianaCare that asks you to make a financial transaction or to provide personal information, please visit www.christianacare.org or call 302-327-5555 and ask to speak to someone from the department or service that contacted you. PRIMARY FUNCTION: To greet patients and visitors arriving at Christiana Care and issue visitor passes as needed. Provide a wheelchair, give directions, and answer questions and monitor parking lots. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists patients in and out of vehicles. Obtains wheelchairs for non-ambulatory and assist them in getting to their desired location. Monitor patient drop-off areas and ensure vehicles are not left unattended. Answers questions and furnishes directions relative to the location of various departments. Issue visitor passes after screening visitors / contractors. Monitor parking lots to make sure employees do not park in visitor / patient parking lots. Contacts nursing stations and/or departments to answer inquiries about patients waiting to be discharged. Assists Security Officers when there is a Code Red or other Security emergencies. Assist Security in monitoring parking lots and report suspicious activity. Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established department safety rules and practices. Report to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury oneself, other employees, patients and visitors. Performs other related duties as directed. SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS: Frequent contact with patients, patients' families, Nursing staff, and visitors to give direction or assistance to Christiana Care departments. DIRECTION/SUPERVISION OF OTHERS: None DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Clinical Practice Coordinator EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of hospital department locations. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to provide excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to exercise judgment and tact. Ability to learn radio codes, procedures, and communications through dispatch system. Ability to be sensitive to the needs of others. Ability to learn departmental policies and procedures. Ability to maintain good public relations. Ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to remain calm in stressful and potentially volatile situations. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Current driver's license. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Need for good hearing, eyesight, and ability to speak clearly. Continuous walking or standing. Continuous pushing and/or pulling, often involving considerable weight. Frequent lifting and/or lowering, often involving considerable weight. Intermittent bending and/or crouching. WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent exposure to all weather conditions (often for extended periods). Occasional exposure to blood and bodily fluids, infectious diseases. Occasional exposure to vehicle exhaust fumes.
