Overview The University of Minnesota Medical Center represents an integrated academic health care system and is comprised of two hospitals and dozens of adult specialty clinics on both the East and West banks of the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis. It is the flagship facility of Fairview providing breakthrough medicine and transforming the health of our community. The RN on the 30 bed Med/Surg unit will provide care to adult patients with complex medical/surgical conditions which require close observation, monitoring and interventions, teaching and discharge planning.Some conditions include: Adult CF, Bariatric Surgery, GI surgery, thoracic surgery, urology, trauma and general medicine. The RN will perform advanced monitoring using current technology, manages complex medication and infusion therapies while caring for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit. They will need to successfully communicate with a care team that includes many different professionals and students. In addition, they will need to demonstrate the ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
