Licensed Practical Nurse
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) demonstrates knowledge and ability to provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems. Higher level LPNs are expected to work with the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Medical Doctor (MD)/ Nurse Practitioner (NP) to appropriately orient/train less experienced LPNs and/or Nursing Assistants. The Licensed Practice Nurse: Provides personal hygiene care (bathing, shaving, shampooing hair, skin and mouth care) for assigned patients according to defined procedures; Feeds and/or encourages diets, nourishments, and fluids to meet nutrition and hydration needs of assigned patients; Turns, positions and transfers patients to and from the bed, chair, stretchers and escorts them to appointments as assigned
