This position is located at the Portland VA Medical Center. This position sorts Medical Center soiled linens, patient clothing and surgical linen, feeds various sizes of flatwork linen into the flatwork ironer, stacks folded flatwork, folds roughdry items, and checks flatwork and rough-dry linens for rewash or repair. Major duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to) Maintains flatwork and four lane feeders; Maintains small and large piece folders; Preforms correct loading and unloading of wash equipment; Sorting of infectious linens by classification /degree of soil; Provides proper handling of various infectious waste and sharps found in Medical Center linens Proper handling of Patient Personal effects; Provides proper and security of PII material found in Medical Center linens Functional knowledge in the load and operation of wash equipment and finishing equipment; Keeps work area and equipment clean on a daily basis, using whatever cleaning tools or disinfectants necessary; Maintains a clean and safe work environment; Performs the duties in a safe and efficient manner; Performs other duties as assigned.
