Nuclear Medicine Tech Part Time Days Position Summary
Performs nuclear medicine therapeutic and diagnostic procedures providing quality images to radiologists and physicians for interpretation.
Responsibilities
Maintains and operates cameras that detect and map radioactive drugs in a patient's body to create diagnostic images.
Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical factors accurately.
Orders, prepares, administers, and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols.
Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
Checks for accuracy of ordered exams by comparing to written physician order.
Verifies correct patient by two forms of identity verification, prior to injecting patient or starting exam.
Obtains patient consent for procedures, as allowed.
Maintains patient confidentiality per established CHN policies regarding HIPAA rights and practices.
Documents patient education on requisition/worksheet as appropriate.
Documents LMP and clinical history on requisitions.
Maintains radiation safety for women of childbearing age, in accordance with existing imaging department standards.
Starts IV catheters and maintains patency, using aseptic technique.
Injects IV approved medications, as radioisotopes are considered a medication.
Delivers oral medications as required for imaging or therapies, per physician direction.
Completes all exams in accordance with department protocols.
Assesses image set(s) to ensure exam completeness.
Ensures patient safety at all times.
Inputs and processes requisitions.
Inputs all RIS information and provides film history as appropriate.
Qualifications:THE NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECH PART TIME DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Certification Required: Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by NMTCB, or ARRT- N (American Registry of Nuclear Medicine Technologist) and AZ Medical Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (MRTBE) - Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.?
Certification Required:?Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
EDUCATION
Required: Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program.
Preferred: Associates Degree in Health Sciences or related Field. ?
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required: Prior Nuclear Medicine experience, OR graduated of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program containing nuclear medicine experience in a clinical setting.
