Summary

The Medical Oncology Unit Registered Nurse / RN is a professional nurse who coordinates the delivery of nursing care for medical patients throughout their hospital stay. The Registered Nurse / RN demonstrates competency in the planning of care for patients across the care continuum. Registered Nurse / RN participates in patient and family teaching, provides leadership by working collaboratively with ancillary services and the interdisciplinary team, and maintains the highest standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. The Registered Nurse / RN advocates for patients to ensure they consistently receive high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with evidence-based practices and regulatory standards. The Registered Nurse / RN is self-motivated and pursues ongoing professional development in the area of Medical Oncology and demonstrates an aptitude for detailed work, strong organizational/time management, leadership, and customer service skills and exemplary verbal/written communication skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelorâ��s degree in nursing preferred.
• BLS Certification
• Current RN / Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Texas or compact state
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certification-RNs with more than
• 1 year of experience should obtain certification within 6 months of hire; new RN/GN, within 12 months of hire.
• ACLS preferred
