Overview
Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full-Time Environmental Aide at Overlook Medical Center. Required hours are 7:00am - 3:00pm (Monday - Friday).
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions (including but not limited to):
01: Receives and follows cleaning assignments as directed. Cleans and disinfects patient care areas, bathrooms, stretchers, beds, bedside tables, offices, windows, vents, police waiting areas and common areas.
02: Washes and dusts furniture and shelves; empties and cleans waste receptacles; cleans walls, sinks, faucets, and windows; dusts all intake and exhaust vents, light fixtures and other furnishings; picks up and stock supplies.
03: Sweeps and scrubs floors. Vacuums, spot cleans, and shampoos rugs as necessary.
04: May change and hang curtains, drapes, move furniture and equipment for cleaning and rearrangement, assist with lights.
05: Collects waste from assigned areas including medical bio hazardous materials and sharps in accordance with hospital policy.
06: Collects and transports contaminated and dirty laundry, delivering it to the correct site.
07: Maintains a safe work environment including the use of equipment and supplies. Observes safety hazards including employee or patient activity, notifying coordinator of concerns while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
08: Maintains security of area as appropriate, locks doors, turns off lights, keeps utility storage area and custodial equipment clean and in good order; appropriately stored.
09: Reports damage or abuse of property; maintenance concerns, any fire or safety hazards; observes and makes reports on areas in need of repair.
10: Responds to emergency situations such as water leaks and sewer backups as needed.
11: Maintains simple records such as logs for rounding, broken equipment, preventive maintenance, or description of incidents.
12: Exhibits working knowledge of hospital policies and protocols using acceptable methods of cleaning; understanding of SDS for the proper handling of spills.
13: Treats all customers with dignity and respects, follows up with customers with issues in a timely manner.
14: Maintains good working relationship with others, actively listens, asks questions for clarification to complete job, and can follow oral or written direction. Provides education regarding chemicals to staff.
15: Able to complete daily assignments exhibiting good time management skills.
16: Uses products with an understanding of cost containment.
17: Participates in unit based goals; performance improvement projects; functions as a team member to achieve department goals.
Qualifications
Education:
- HS diploma or GED equivalent required or will obtain within 2 years of employment
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Qualified candidates must be able to read, write, and speak English, solid work history, prior institutional housekeeping experience preferred
- Prior floor care experience is a plus
- Must be able to lift, push, pull 50lbs
