The incumbent practices in a an independent manner, relying on his/her own knowledge and experiences more fully. He/She utilizes the expert nurse resources only in unusual or extremely complex clinical situations. This level nurse can serve in a variety of leadership roles to include program and unit official leadership roles. The incumbent role models the expected professionalism and confidence of experienced nurses. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
