The Anesthesia Technician I is responsible for aiding the Anesthesiologists in a safe, appropriate and effective manner under the direct supervision of an Anesthesiologist. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: assembly, set-up and troubleshooting of all anesthesia equipment including anesthesia machines and ventilators, stocking of anesthesia machines and carts with supplies needed for patient care. The Anesthesia Technician assists with the routine and emergency services, to Anesthesiologists and licensed personnel, while working within the scope of practice. This position maintains clinical equipment in the Surgery Services Department and they are responsible for, trouble shooting and communicating with service coordinators, bio-med, vendors and Anesthesiologists, regarding repairs and supplies. Lastly, this position provides in-servicing of the Surgery Services staff in the use of clinical equipment and status of equipment as necessary.

1. Communication to facilitate patient care delivery and unit efficiency
2. Performance of daily organization of anesthesia field & carts
3. Perform anesthesia machine checkouts.
4. Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot anesthesia machine, ASA monitors, and adjunct equipment problems
5. Provide anesthesia specific supplies, instrumentation, and equipment
6. Adheres to Patient Safety Protocol
7. Maintain unit readiness for emergency cases
8. Assist with instrumentation and supplies for Anesthesia schedule (anesthesia cart readiness)
9. Maintain current/accurate unit information
10. Assist with anesthesia supply room activities & coordination
11. Support staff cross-training
12. Responsible for ordering and stocking anesthesia supplies, equipment, and medications
13. Assist with inserting intravenous lines and managing patients’ airways.
14. Supports Operating Patient Care Technicians and duties.
