Regulatory Specialist work side by side our end users, and other application team members, to install, enhance, and utilize the Epic software, help lead and manage workflow/software, and data flow changes, with a primary focus to integrate performance improvement and regulatory requirements. They integrate and maintain accuracy in data flow and information and ultimately transform the way that MemorialCare provides healthcare. The Regulatory Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing an enterprise data strategy that aligns information assets with business and technology strategy, and to Performance Improvement (PI)/Regulatory requirements. It is essential for this individual to be highly collaborative as they need to influence senior business leaders, functional leadership, project and application managers, clinicians, as well as service line resources.
- Acts as technical and subject-matter-expert for applications and PI Regulatory requirements addressing problems of system integration and overall compatibility
- Supports the security and data integrity of clinical data,
- Identifies and resolves complex problems and issues associated with enterprise wide applications to ensure high levels of application availability and user satisfaction
- Stays abreast of current and emerging data technologies and trends, as well as regulatory specifications and directives
- Maximizes the maintainability of Epic through in-depth system knowledge
- Provides direction, assistance and expertise to support proposed and existing systems architectures to align with regulatory and organizational goals and objectives
- Collaborates with business intelligence and analytics teams in developing reports, monitoring, and analyzing performance related to various quality reporting programs
- Applies high-level, specialized EpicCare Ambulatory or ClinDoc, and PI/Regulatory expertise to improve processes and support strategies
- Collaborates on the continuous assessment, design, development and implementation of the Epic system, to align with PI/Regulatory requirements
- Uses and maintains knowledge of federal, state, and location regulations to educate, assess, design, and develop the various critical application aspects that need to be modified to meet regulatory needs
- Owns various steps in regulatory reporting including supervising the preparation of data and under leadership direction responsible for data submission. Prepares and may submit data for regulatory reporting. Ensures accuracy of summitted data
- Prepares Epic Eligible Hospital (EH), Eligible Provider (EP) or system quality reports including quality measure summaries and trended data
- Creates, gathers, and maintains supportive documentation for regulatory audits
- Demonstrates independent working nature, requiring minimal direction
- Collaborates with support teams to ensure seamless integration with PI/Regulatory requirements as well as offers consultation to staff and vendors, concerning PI/Regulatory features and proper uses of associated modules and systems.
