The Medical Director of Inpatient Advanced Illness Management Services (aka Palliative Care) will be responsible for clinical oversight of Advanced Illness Management operations, inclusive of clinical oversight of advanced practice providers in Advanced Illness Management. The provider will lead in the development and implementation of protocols, policies, education, administrative duties, and huddles which will enhance the value of patient care customer service, and will support communication of such changes to all. The medical director will assist with the development and growth of Advanced Illness Management across the system. In addition, the provider will serve as a liaison to the medical staff and operational staff. The medical director has responsibility over directing program planning and provider evaluations, development, mentoring, and recruitment. The Medical Director will collaborate with business development for strategic planning to achieve program growth and appropriate expansion of clinical services. Candidate is also responsible for addressing behavioral and compliance concerns.
The Medical Director’s time will be allocated approximately 75% clinical and 25% administrative. The ideal candidate will possess a Board Certification in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics or Family Medicine. Candidate will have successful completion of a Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship as well. The Medical Director will support all system sites, inclusive of Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Paw Paw and South Haven seeing adult and pediatric patients. The provider will possess a current active and unrestricted Michigan licensure as a Physician, valid and unrestricted Federal/State registration to prescribe, dispense, and administer controlled substances, qualified as a “provider” under Medicare or Medicaid programs, and possesses a doctoral degree in medicine (M.D. or D.O.).
