Baystate Health, western Massachusetts’ premier healthcare provider and home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School – Baystate, is seeking an experienced Pediatric Intensivist to join our organization as Division Chief.
Provide clinical and academic leadership for our well-established division at Baystate Children’s Hospital (BCH) in Springfield MA. BCH is a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and a member of the Children’s Oncology Group with onsite subspecialists across 13 pediatric divisions. Our 107-bed facility includes the region’s only PICU and NICU, as well as pediatric inpatient services, child life specialists, a designated 24-hour pediatric ED and outpatient specialty services.
Our team of 5 pediatric intensivists cares for a diverse patient population up to 22 years of age with wide variety of medical and surgical diagnoses.
As Division Chief and PICU Medical Director, you will
Cultivate and facilitate clinical and QI research through affiliations with the Northeast PICU Consortium, PALISI Network and Solutions for Patient Safety.
Lead our engagement in medical education (peds, med-peds and EM residents, 4th year medical students). Our onsite simulation center provides fully accredited world-class medical training facilities. Enjoy a faculty appointment to the UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate (preferably Associate Professor or higher).
Facilitate faculty development and contributions to the department’s and hospital’s vision and mission.
Provide operational oversight of our 7-bed PICU.
Manage the sedation service in our state-of-the-art pediatric procedure unit and provide input to the regional critical care transport team.
Foster a culture of collaboration across service lines (trauma, pediatric surgery, pediatric EM) to care for critically ill patients regardless of their location within the hospital.
ABP BC in pediatric critical care. 5+ years’ experience with evidence of progressive management responsibilities and leadership in an academic department.
Demonstrable record of collaboration, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enthusiasm for medical education and mentoring junior faculty and ability to engage a broad base of potential stakeholders to work towards a shared vision.
