RN in Mental Health
The RN demonstrates leadership in delivering holistic care through collaborative strategies with others (VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G6), the integration of biopsychosocial concepts, cognitive skills, and technically competent practice in providing care to clients, as well as proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning. The RN is proficient in decision-making and using the nursing process for complex situations that effect performance outcomes at the point of care. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
