Job DescriptionGeneral SummaryUnder limited supervision, the Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) provides comprehensive care to sexual assault patients. The FNE conducts a medical forensic assault history and physical examination as well as evidence collection, preservation, and documentation. The FNE ensures crisis intervention and medical treatment is provided while in the Emergency Department. The FNE coordinates reporting to appropriate police jurisdiction and/or Child Protective Services, if applicable. The FNE will interface with patient advocacy, law enforcement and crime labs.
