Position Description
St. Lawrence University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in Public Health to begin August 15th, 2024. We seek a public health scholar who can teach Introduction to Epidemiology, Social Determinants of Health, Introduction to Public Health, and other electives based on their specialty. We encourage applications from those who can teach elective courses that take a global and cross-cultural perspective on health and/or courses that address issues of health equity. The successful candidate will advise and mentor students, teach three courses per semester, and demonstrate an active research agenda.
Description of the Public Health Program
St. Lawrence University’s Public Health program includes a minor and a fast growing major. Both are firmly rooted in the liberal arts and allow students to choose from more than 40 courses across 15 different academic departments/programs. In addition, students are required to undertake an experiential learning component (ELC) where they are pushed to experience public health outside of the classroom. Our curriculum values diversity and inclusion, community engagement, and social justice while guiding students to understand the historical and social roots of health inequities.
