We seek a highly flexible, entrepreneurial, and motivated Faculty member to join the Department of Community and Global Health (CGH) and to serve as the Associate Director of the Doctoral Program in Global Health Leadership (DrPH). Successful candidates will have the knowledge, skills, expertise, and desire to engage in day-to-day, hands’-on operational management of the DrPH program. This will occur in close collaboration with the current Director, who provides academic oversight. The expectation is that the Associate Director will assume full responsibility as Director within 1 – 2 years. In addition to the Director, the Associate Director of the DrPH will work closely with departmental faculty and support staff. As a full-time faculty member, the incumbent will also contribute substantially to the scholarly work in the CGH department, including through teaching, research, mentoring (especially DrPH students), and service.

The ECHO Center
The DrPH program is a large, complex, and highly popular cohort-based 3-year executive leadership program for mid- to senior-level professionals working full-time in field positions around the world. Past and present DrPH students include C-suite executives from healthcare systems around the world, Ministry of Health officials, and public health practitioners of national and international renown. Classes are conducted via Zoom, and the program includes residencies held virtually as well as in-person in Indianapolis or in other locations in the US and around the world. The individual hired for this position will be expected to travel two weeks annually, including outside of the U.S., in conjunction with DrPH program needs.
The Associate Director of the DrPH program is expected to manage the operations of this dynamic and demanding program. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, residencies, teaching assignments and schedules, ensuring implementation and continuous improvement of program policies and procedures, leading the DrPH Advisory Committee and DrPH Academic Progress Committee, serving on doctoral committees, and other programmatic operational tasks. This career opportunity is well-suited for the energetic and enthusiastic candidate with substantial prior program management experience, and demonstrated excellence in leadership, communication, diplomacy, and administrative abilities. We are particularly interested in individuals who have some blend of both real-world public health practice experience, as well as an understanding of the challenges and opportunities within academia. Successful candidates will be well-suited for the unique rhythm of the DrPH program, which has regular periods of intense programmatic activity, such as during residency weeks. Candidates must have the desire and ability to work with diverse working professionals from varied backgrounds and cultures.
Basic requirements:
Doctoral degree (e.g., DrPH, PhD, MD) or other equivalent credential in a public health related field.
Must be able to teach one or more courses in the DrPH and other departmental programs.
Willingness to have a full-time on-site presence at the Fairbanks School of Public Health in Indianapolis
Ability to travel as needed for DrPH program residencies
