We provide care for adult patients in 37 Vanderbilt Adult Hospital units undergoing treatment for various medical conditions including Med Surg, Stepdown, and ICU.
Schedules: 3, 12-hour shifts from 6:45 pm to 7:15 am. Schedules are created every 6 weeks. Holidays are divided into Groups A and B to avoid repetitive holidays.
We highly prefer candidates with at least 1 year of prior acute care experience. If you lack prior acute care experience, we recommend applying for a unit-based position until you have gained sufficient skills.
For those without healthcare experience, we suggest applying for a Care Partner Trainee position. This position does not require expertise and provides three weeks of paid training from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Working in the Float Pool offers the benefit of a diverse and ever-changing patient population, allowing staff to develop a broad skill set. You will assist in delivering patient care and maintaining unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Our team environment is collaborative, supportive, and highly communicative.
You can administer ADLs, vitals, lab draws, acute checks, place foleys, and straight caths in this role. Wound care will also be introduced soon.
This is a great opportunity for nursing students; however, our orientation is structured and rigorous. Please ensure you are available for the orientation on week 1 on Monday, Thursday, and Friday during business hours. Following this, you will undergo cross-training for nine shifts in your first 30 days.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assists with day to day delivery of patient care.
* Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards.
* Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs.
* Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environmental standards.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

Appropriately matches equipment, and capital resources to task demands. Prepares and presents clear and accurate status reports on projects and assignments.
* Clinical Competencies (Novice): Demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to assist and perform clinical care including but not limited to vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, medication administration and point of care testing as directed by unit standards.
* Care Partner Patient Documentation (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training working with clinical applications for patient documentation.
* Environment of Care (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training working with set up and maintenance of patient exam rooms, supplies and equipment.
