About the Role
This position will support the Jona Goldrich Center for Alzheimer's & Memory Disorders at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. We are looking for an outstanding candidate with expertise in community engagement, outreach to diverse communities, and leadership skills to join a collaborative team of healthcare professionals conducting state-of-the art research on brain aging and dementia.
The Lead Community Health Associate (LCHA) conducts direct outreach with designated communities in an effort to provide education and establish and grow professional bonds, relationships, and sustainable advisory boards and partnerships. Under the direction of management, the LCHA is responsible for bringing together meaningful information, resources and evidence-based awareness and health education programs to identified communities. In addition, the LCHA handles data collection when necessary and will represent the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in community settings. The LCHA also collaborates with colleagues and experts to conduct training in the community. This position will provide feedback to the director(s), principal investigators, clinicians and researchers, and administrators on community priorities, needs and barriers to help catalyze the development of research projects and needed community programs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and manages relationships with key community organizations, partners, including developing and managing a partnership data-base and documenting key interactions.
Leads all aspects of education programs at the neighborhood-level, in particular managing program within catchment area areas identified as prioritized by leadership, growing reach and numbers of community members and partners based on targets established.
Develops, manages and evaluates partnerships within the designated geographic areas and develops innovative ways to scale up efforts to reach all parts of the catchment area.
Coordinates the community outreach/partnership process for community grants program and manages progress for specific grants throughout the year.
Supporting collaborative community-based research studies with investigators and providing input.
Conducts presentations as related to education for the community, including train the trainer and support media events within institution guidelines.
Supervises, volunteers/community health workers and other designated staff.
Conducts evaluations of specific projects and collecting appropriate data.
Social media content development and supporting dissemination of public health information.
Digital assets/digital library development and management.
Develops and tests education materials and messages. This includes design, production, and dissemination of collateral marketing materials (letters, brochures, and flyers) and tool kits per institutional guidelines by obtaining approvals.
Works with Director to develop promotional plans for the community.
Implements strategic initiatives within the community as designated by leadership.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Community Health, Social Science, Nutrition, or a related field.
3 years of experience in a community health setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Health Education Specialist Certification (CHES).
1 year of experience implementing community-based programs.
