Part-Time School-Based Pediatric Provider Opportunity

ChristianaCare, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare, is actively recruiting a dedicated and compassionate provider to join our school-based pediatric offices in Delaware. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of elementary school students in urban, diverse communities.

We are seeking a self-sufficient pediatrician to work 20 hours per week and is comfortable working independently in a school setting. Candidates with 2-3 years of experience are preferred, but residents will be considered.

Position Highlights:

• Patient Population:

  • Pediatric elementary school students

  • Urban and diverse communities with a variety of languages spoken. Many patients from underserved communities.

  • Parents opt-in to enroll their children in the school-based health system

  • This role supplements the family pediatrician and is not a substitute for a full pediatric practice or medical home

• Clinical Focus:

  • Immunizations, asthma management, wellness checks, behavioral health [seen by BHT]

  • Visits occur with a RN or medical assistant, however; a parent may not be present, and visits will often require follow up

• Volume:

  • Average of 1-1.5 visits per hour, with a maximum of 2 per hour

• Schedule:

  • 20 hours per week. 8 hours at each of two schools

  • Two full days (approx. 8 AM-4 PM)

  • 4 hours of administrative/supervisory time for APC/clinical education

  • Schedule is school calendar dependent

  • Monthly Elementary Provider meetings

  • Monthly medical providers meetings

  • Low summer volume, ideal for taking vacations

• Call Schedule: No call, no nights, no weekends

• Practice Environment:

  • Dedicated office space in the schools with Medical Assistant, Office Assistant and NP Elementary Cooridinator

  • Support services include: Behavioral Health Therapist, Community health worker Registered part-time dietician, Language Line and iPad translation services
