UNIQUE JOB OPENING FOR A GENETICIST

DDC Clinic is seeking a geneticist to join its highly respected center for the care of individuals with rare genetic disorders. We are a medical home providing culturally competent medical services, patient-centered research, an in-house molecular diagnostics laboratory, and education and support for families. Our 11,000 square foot LEED Gold facility was designed to provide world-class personalized medicine in an environment that’s comfortable for patient families and conducive to research and collaborations with major medical centers. Our previous collaborations have resulted in over 80 peer-reviewed publications.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to practice medicine in a center with more than a two-decade track record of identifying, diagnosing and treating patients affected by more than 250 rare conditions. The new physician will work closely with primary care physicians, cardiologists and other team members for patient care and research. They are also expected to be involved with the newly launched cardiogenetic center (Family Heart Center) and Pennsylvania branch.

DDC Clinic is located in Middlefield, Ohio, the center of the world’s fourth largest Amish settlement, just 40 minutes east of metropolitan Cleveland.  Cleveland features world class arts and culture, outdoor recreation, major universities and medical facilities, and an international airport. Our location offers a high quality of life; allowing for short commutes to affordable housing and respected schools in suburban, small town and rural communities.

• BC/BE in Medical Genetics
• Experience in, or eagerness to learn diagnostics, evaluation, treatment and support of individuals with complex conditions.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing compassionate, culturally sensitive, cost effective care.
• Background or interest in metabolic disorders, cardiogenetic or neurogenetic disorders is a plus.

Giving special children the chance to live healthier lives and finding answers for their families is at the heart of what we do. We’re a non-profit primary care, education and research facility. We work with children whose complex medical conditions are difficult to diagnose and treat. Many times, the families of these children have gone to large medical centers, seeking answers. In many cases, these children’s diseases are so rare that, after long hospitalizations and expensive testing, doctors were unable to provide a diagnosis. Children often suffer needlessly for months and sometimes years. Our clinic is a special place for these children. With our expertise in diagnosing, treating and researching rare genetic disorders, we can often provide long-awaited answers to families and specialized care to their children.
