About the Role:

Job Summary

Oversees the Northeast Georgia Health System's Clergy Fellowship. Recruits members of the Clergy Fellowship to become Volunteer Chaplains in order to provide emotional and spiritual care to patients, families and staff inside NGHS facilities. Serves as a liaison between NGHS and community faith-based organizations in order to encourage and grow the ministry of local clergy within NGHS facilities.

Minimum Job Qualifications

• Licensure or other certifications: A Board Certified Chaplain or eligible to become Board Certified through the Association for Professional Chaplains, Inc.; required to complete board certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains/Board of Chaplaincy Certification, Inc. (APC/BCCI) within 2 years of hire if not already board certified upon hire

• Educational Requirements: Masters Degree

• Minimum Experience: A minimum of three years of pastoral ministry experience with at least one year of hospital ministry experience.

• Other: Master of Divinity or equivalent degree from Theological Seminary accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), minimum of 4 units clinical pastoral education (CPE) in a hospital setting.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

• Invites local clergy to become part of the NGHS Clergy Fellowship.

• Invites members of the NGHS Clergy Fellowship to become Volunteer Chaplains who provide spiritual and emotional care in NGHS facilities.

• Plans, implements, and administers the ministry of Volunteer Chaplains and community clergy within NGHS facilities.

• Keeps files for each Volunteer Chaplain in order to facilitate annual Occupational Health and education requirements.

• Works to ensure that NGHS community hospitals are cared for with an organized system of chaplain care by NGHS Volunteer Chaplains.

• Serves as a successful liaison between the community clergy and the hospital as indicated by feedback by community clergy.

• Offers training and educational opportunities to both local clergy and Volunteer Chaplains through the NGHS Clergy Fellowship.

• Works to educate the community of Northeast Georgia regarding the multiple programs offered by the Puckett Center for Spiritual Care.

• Works alongside all team members of the Puckett Center for Spiritual Care in order to grow the ministry of Volunteer Chaplains and community clergy.

• Provides the spiritual dimension of holistic care to patients, families, and hospital personnel.

• Completes other duties as assigned.
