Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Postdoctoral Researcher in the Wilkinson Lab

The Wilkinson Lab, part of the Structural Biology Program at MSK, is seeking a motivated, creative, and enthusiastic Postdoctoral Researcher to join our growing team. Our research focusses on discovering new reverse transcriptase-based biology in bacteria and eukaryotes. We do mechanistic biology, spanning bioinformatic discovery, molecular biology, biochemistry, and structural biology. There is so much cool RNA-based biology, and we're excited by the question: 'what else is out there?'

This position offers an opportunity to work at the cutting edge of fundamental biological discovery.

Potential projects would include

• Discovery and comprehensive characterization of new reverse transcription-based phage defence systems in bacteria
• Discovery of the gene expression and/or translation mechanisms of eukaryotic retrotransposons, with a particular focus on how R2 retroelements impact/synthesise with ribosome biogenesis
• Original ideas from applicants are also welcome (but not necessary)

Key Requirements:

• PhD in a molecular biology or molecular biology-adjacent field
• Experience with some of the following (not necessarily all of the following - we welcome applicants who want to learn some of these skills):
• Structural biology
• Nucleic acid biochemistry
• Protein expression and purification
• Microbiology
• Cell culture and cell line creation
• Ribosome biology
• Kindness and curiosity
