Position Overview:
CHRISTUS Health is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in the Cardiovascular department at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital-Shoreline. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to assigned patients under the direction of a physician, ensuring the delivery of exceptional care in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the CV ICU and acute Inpatient CV Units.
- Act as a first assist in CV Surgery cases in the Operating Room. Vein harvesting experience preferred.
- Follow established nursing standards, procedures, and practices to give patient care directions to nursing and other staff.
- Evaluate the outcomes of direct patient care and consult with specialists as necessary.
- Adjust nursing care processes to optimize patient outcomes and provide the highest standard of care.
- Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered for patients.
- Monitor and ensure the accuracy of patient medical records.
- Provide preventative health care services to long-term patients and coordinate consultations and referrals as required.
- Perform physical exams and prescribe treatments and medications within scope of practice.
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced Nursing Degree or Master's Degree required.
- Current Texas State Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license or PA license.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (CPR), American Heart Association.
- Experience in the specialty area (CV ICU, CV OR).
- Experience in both clinical and management areas.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and market services effectively.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong team-oriented approach and interdepartmental collaboration based on CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) principles.
