The Associate Chief Nursing Officer for the Childrens Hospital & Patient Care Services (PCS) will serve as a key member of an outstanding leadership team at one of the most comprehensive and advanced academic healthcare systems in the country. They will support and facilitate an inter-professional team and patient centered approach to the delivery of care. This includes creating a nursing environment in which collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care, education, and research is promoted and achieved.
The Associate Chief Nursing Officer provides operational oversight of inpatient nursing services for the UC Davis Childrens Hospital departments by assisting the Chief Nursing and Patient Care Services Officer (CNO) in planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and evaluating hospital wide nursing/patient care services, including nursing practice standards and policies, staffing, strategic planning, organizational and staff development, maintaining necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditations; provides highly responsible administrative support to the CNO; acts on behalf of the CNO in his/her absence. The Associate Chief Nursing Officer will have accountability for enhancing a clinical practice environment; encouraging patient centered, unsurpassed clinical quality and patient safety while also providing significant contributions to education and research. They will provide round-the-clock leadership and management in the areas of customer satisfaction, provision of safe and effective care, finance, human resources, communication, patient/staff advocacy, performance improvement and leadership and professional development. Additionally, they will supervise 6 Nurse Managers.

- Bachelors or Master of Science degree in Nursing required
- Masters degree in related field required
- Demonstrated record of effective nurse recruitment and retention strategies including ability to develop and retain new graduate nurses. Personal commitment to the development and advancement of clinical leaders throughout the organization.
- Demonstrated passion for the delivery of the highest level of service to patients and their families.
- Successful track record employing quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives that achieve superior clinical quality, favorable financial outcomes, and high patient and nurse satisfaction and engagement.
- Proven ability of building internal and external relationships, with a demonstrated track record of working successfully with academic partners, physicians and physician leaders, and diverse management teams.
- Demonstrates strong financial acumen and innovative approaches to engage staff in reducing waste and enhancing value for patients.
- Demonstrated commitment to the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition program.

- Demonstrates a strong executive presence and is political savvy, including communication skills that enable them to appreciate others perspectives and offer compelling insights and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications - Doctorate in nursing
