Clinical Research Supervisor 2
Salary Range: $2,612.80 to $5,245.21 Biweekly
This role of this position is to provide administrative leadership and supervision to the UC Davis Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) clinical evaluation and research program in the East Bay. This position oversees and problem solves operational aspects of human subject clinical research and clinical trials in conjunction with the project teams and in accordance with standard operating procedures and good clinical practices and human subject regulations. The position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the ADC clinical research program and clinical trials including regulatory and clinical operations. The incumbent must be able to work under minimal supervision, maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal professionally with UC administrators, faculty, clinic personnel, staff, physicians and the general public.
As a member of the center’s leadership team, the position is responsible for providing oversight for personnel administration, management for specialty clinic operations, longitudinal research studies and clinical trials, program planning, research data reporting, community relationship building, equipment and facilities planning at the East Bay site. The successful candidate will supervise multiple research projects with research staff at every level. Preference will be given to applicants that have demonstrated experience applying research management skills in clinical settings. The successful candidate will have familiarity with the policies and regulations related to clinical research. Work is performed independently and with decision-making responsibilities under minimal consultative direction of the Principal Investigators and ADC Administrator.

Required Qualifications?

- Advanced degree in business administration, public health, or health care or equivalent experience working in a healthcare research environment.
- Experience managing clinical research or clinical trials program.
- Experience managing a specialty clinic operation in a health system environment with Joint Commission accreditation.
- Experience with personnel management including developing position descriptions, screening criteria and interview questionnaires; recruiting, interviewing and selecting employees; establishing performance standards, empowering employees and holding them accountable; coaching and evaluating employees; recognizing and rewarding staff; administering corrective action and discipline; and providing staff development and team building opportunities.
- Clinical trial professional certification from a professional society or completion of certificate in one (1) year from hire date.
- Experience evaluating workflow and staffing for efficiency, implementing best practices to ensure optimum utilization of staff and other resources.
- Demonstrated project management skills. Able to manage multiple priorities, prioritize projects, and meet the demands of a dynamic research environment.
- Experience managing and training people in the field of research. Experience setting performance standards.
- Experience in budget development for research proposals, contract/grant development, vendor procurement, rules and regulations for extramural funding, accounting principles and financial analysis.
- Experience organizing and coordinating administrative and research activities for multiple ongoing and planned projects.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a self-motivated and team-oriented leader, work independently with minimal supervision, organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines for a variety of assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and edit questionnaires, create and use survey mailing schedules, create data files, supervise data entry, analyze data, and report findings.
- Ability to effectively interpret and communicate UCD and UCDMC Policy and Procedures, and other guidelines to faculty, staff and students.
- Ability to anticipate problems, problem solve using good judgment and common sense, gather input and evaluate the available options prior to making decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with researchers and staff from various disciplines and organizations in conducting research and administrative duties.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and lead teams, mentor, problem solve, and motivate others to achieve common goals.
- Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills, with experience in writing reports.
- Knowledge of the research and the research proposal process.
- Knowledge of scientific and medical terminology.
Special Requirements?
- This position is located in Walnut Creek, CA.
- Willingness to work hours beyond the standard 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. schedule as needed to meet the operational and business needs of the center.
- Ability to travel to Sacramento and Davis for meetings and training.
- Clinical trial professional certification from a professional society or completion of certificate in one (1) year from hire date.
- This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
